Welcome to The Journey – No. 1
As a new entrepreneur, I’m learning a lot after spending >30 years in a corporate structure and environment. It’s so exciting and terrifying.
I’d like to share what I’m learning as it relates to being vulnerable, curious and growth minded. So, the Journey will do just that — a chance to give mini-updates between monthly newsletters.
It may be messy, but please enjoy for any of the tidbits that resonate with you. Welcome to a bi-weekly update of small tips and ideas!
Know your worth
A theme of our September newsletter, The Root, was Imposter Syndrome. We won’t rehash that here, but you can check it out.
The tip to overcome this? Create a Google Doc (or wherever you keep you CV), and make a document called “Why I am amazing” (you can rename it, but that’s a great title, I think)
List these things out:
- Your accomplishments
- The positions you’ve held/jobs you’ve had
- Your special talents
- Your education and training
- Any awards or certifications
- Any volunteering activities
- You can also add some wonderful personal characteristics, too — we bring our whole selves to work!
The next time you don’t feel like you are enough or feel like you have enough experience for a new potential job, take this list out. Remind yourself of your worth
Feeling stuck?
Are you dreading the return to work after the long weekend?
It’s normal to get bored with our jobs, especially if we’ve hit a level of mastery. Here’s a tip to understand what part of your job energizes vs. the parts that drain you.
Over a few days, make list of your daily tasks. Rate each task see worksheet. Assess your list – look for any trends. Are you surprised? Can you make any changes? Does this assessment lead to any new insights? Use this as a way to identify if you have an opportunity to take on new energizing projects, or if you may be ready for something new
